Uzbekistan may reach Indian Ocean through Afghanistan and Pakistan

Uzbekistan's Minister of Transport, Ilhom Makhkamov, and the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, conducted negotiations with official representatives of Afghanistan on the issue of freight transportation and cargo transit in Afghanistan, Nova24.uz reports.

During the talks in Kabul, the parties discussed the formation of an international transport corridor for exit through Afghanistan and Pakistan to the ports of the Indian Ocean. They also addressed strengthening cooperation between transport logistics enterprises of the two countries, creating favorable conditions for international trucking companies, including the removal of restrictions on transit through Afghan territory and transporting goods to other destinations.

As part of the trip, an expedition was carried out along the "Uzbekistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan" automobile route, jointly with the Acting Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Hamidullah Ahunzada. The Uzbek delegation assessed the situation at the "Salang Pass," connecting Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif, as well as at the border crossing point "Torkham" on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
