TASHKENT - According to data from the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan's natural gas production in April amounted to approximately 3 billion cubic meters, Gazeta.uz reports.
This is 18.8% (almost 700 million cubic meters) less than in April of last year. The decline has accelerated since the end of 2025. In January-April, gas production amounted to approximately 12.6 billion cubic meters, 16% lower than the same period last year and 8.2 billion cubic meters less than in 2019.
At the same time, approximately 65-70% of the country's electricity is still generated by gas, although its share is gradually declining. The Ministry of Energy notes that the decline in production was expected, and the priority is to stabilize volumes.
Electricity production from January-April increased by 3.1% to 29.9 billion kWh, but decreased by 6% in April. Output at large generating plants fell by 6.2%, while small plants, including renewable energy sources, increased output by 31.7% to 9.3 billion kWh. The share of renewable energy reached 11.4% over the four months and 14.8% in April.
Oil production fell to 51,700 tons in April and to 209,000 tons in January–April. At the same time, gasoline production increased by 21.7% in April and 7.1% over the four months, while diesel fuel production increased by 38.9% and 17.1%, respectively.
Against this backdrop, coal production fell sharply: to 200,000 tons in April (-64.1%), and by 27.7% year-to-date, to 1.3 million tons.
