TASHKENT - Negotiations between representatives of the water and energy agencies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan have concluded in the capital of Uzbekistan. The main outcome of the meeting was the signing of a trilateral agreement defining the volumes and schedules of water supply from the Toktogul Reservoir for the coming months. This information was released by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

The main topic of discussion was ensuring agricultural regions receive the necessary water volumes during the period of intensive irrigation. The agreed-upon schedule will enable stable water releases from the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Station and provide farmers with predictable conditions at the beginning of the summer season.

The parties emphasized that the agreements reached are of particular importance for farmers in the southern regions of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, where the growing season directly depends on the timely supply of water. Thanks to the approved measures, agricultural producers will be able to avoid interruptions during the initial stages of irrigation.

As part of the agreement, the countries also agreed to coordinate further actions in stages to maintain a stable water supply until the end of the agricultural season. The next meeting of representatives of the three countries is scheduled for mid-June in Bishkek. At the meeting, the participants intend to discuss and approve water supply schedules for the busiest summer months—July, August, and September.

The signed document confirms the effectiveness of cooperation between the countries of the region in the distribution of water and energy resources and strengthening interstate cooperation.
