First summit of EU and Central Asian countries to take place in Uzbekistan

The summit of the European Union (EU) and Central Asia (CA) countries will take place for the first time in April 2024. Uzbekistan will host the summit, as stated by the Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, Kursiv reports.

Schinas made this announcement at an investment forum in Brussels, attended by representatives from all Central Asian countries, according to the German news channel Deutsche Welle.

It is expected that the EU will be represented at the summit by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

On January 17 of the current year, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the revision of the EU's strategy towards Central Asian countries. The document calls for deepening Europe's political and economic cooperation with the countries in the region.
