Turkmenistan and South Korea Strengthen Economic, Technological and Strategic Cooperation

During bilateral talks in Seoul between the Presidents of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung, the parties discussed the further development of bilateral cooperation, Turkmenportal.com reported.

Particular attention was paid to trade, investment, energy, industry, the chemical industry, transport, artificial intelligence, science and technology, water resources, and the environment.

The President of Turkmenistan noted the contribution of Korean companies to the implementation of strategic projects, including the development of public transportation, shipbuilding, and the creation of a medical cluster in the city of Arkadag. Ashgabat is also interested in the participation of Korean businesses in transport and logistics projects in the East-West and North-South directions.

Education, healthcare, tourism, sports, and cultural exchanges were identified as separate areas of cooperation. The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan open in South Korea on September 16.

For Turkmenistan, partnership with South Korea is of practical importance as a source of technology, investment, and industrial expertise. Of particular interest is the participation of Korean companies in infrastructure and transport projects, as well as cooperation in AI and technology.

For Seoul, Turkmenistan represents an opportunity to expand its presence in Central Asia, primarily in energy, infrastructure, and new technological areas.
