The Minister of Economic Development and Trade, also the Authorized Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from Tajikistan, Zavkizoda Zavki Amina, held negotiations with Ibrahim Shukri, the Regional Director of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Central Asia, in Dushanbe, Avesta reports.
The parties reviewed the outcomes of the meeting between the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the IDB Group, Muhammad Suleiman Al-Jasser, on November 11, 2023. They discussed priority areas for bilateral cooperation, including investments in the digital and green economy, energy, transportation, agriculture, irrigation, healthcare, and education.
Ibrahim Shukri reported that, following the presidents' meeting, the IDB allocated $250 million for the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant and is making efforts to increase this amount.
Additionally, the IDB is providing financing for the implementation of projects such as "Support for the Implementation of the National Education Development Strategy" amounting to $86 million and "Construction and Reconstruction of the Guliston-Farkhor-Pyanj-Dusti Highway" with a sum of $41 million.
As of today, the IDB Group has allocated investment projects totaling $633 million in various sectors of Tajikistan's economy.
In Tajikistan, there are currently 5 ongoing projects from the IDB Group with a total value of $231 million, and 4 more projects are planned with a total value of $391 million.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed readiness for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
