Kazakhstan expects to increase oil pumping through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline

Azerbaijani Republic’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, is on an official visit to Astana. He held negotiations with the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, reports Kazakh MFA.

During the meeting, a wide range of bilateral relations issues were discussed, including politics, trade, economy, energy, transport, transit, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties.

An important topic of the talks was strengthening cooperation in the energy sector. The ministers welcomed the successful interaction in the transit of Kazakhstan’s energy resources through the territory of Azerbaijan. It was emphasized that the volume of oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline amounted to 1.4 million tons in 2024, with a medium-term goal of reaching 2.2 million tons per year.

"We consider Kazakhstan a key partner in Central Asia. Today’s negotiations confirmed the mutual commitment to further strengthening relations in various areas, including transport, investment, energy, and education," stated J. Bayramov.
