The Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan has developed a draft order on the introduction of a customs duty on the export of grain from the country — in the amount of $50 per ton, the APK News portal reports.

At the same time, officials propose making the export duty valid indefinitely.

The list includes wheat, meslin, rye, barley, oats, corn, rice, sorghum, buckwheat, soybeans, as well as flax, rapeseed and sunflower seeds.

The draft order is currently being analyzed and discussed in government agencies.

A week earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin announced that the issue of introducing an export customs duty on grain is not on the agenda of the government of Kazakhstan.

In January-October 2023, Kazakhstan exported 3 million 885 thousand tons of wheat and meslin worth $1 billion
