Kazakhstan plans to expand cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Deputies of the Mazhilis (the lower house of Kazakhstan's parliament) have begun work on the relevant bill, reports Tengrinews.kz.

The Mazhilis members plan to ratify the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its member states on one side, and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the other.

As reported by the Chairman of the Mazhilis Committee on Economic Reform and Regional Development, Deputy Nurtai Sabilyanov, the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU member states and Iran was signed in St. Petersburg on December 25, 2023.

"The goal of the agreement is to expand trade and economic cooperation, as well as create favorable conditions for promoting goods in the partner's market and attracting investments into the EAEU countries. In this regard, the committee is ready to take up the bill and prepare a conclusion on it. We ask for support," said Sabilyanov at the Mazhilis plenary session.
