Kyrgyzstan and China's XUAR expand ties

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Administration of the President of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov held talks with representatives of the Chinese delegation headed by member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Communist Party of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) Ma Xingrui.

"The development of friendly relations with China is a priority in Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy," Zhaparov said at the meeting. He added that the Kyrgyz side is currently actively working to improve the investment climate in the country and create a favorable business environment.

Given the fact that China is the main trade and investment partner of Kyrgyzstan, Zhaparov invited state and private enterprises, companies from the XUAR to take part in the implementation of investment projects in the field of mining, agriculture, agricultural processing, energy, transport, and logistics.

He paid special attention to issues in the transport and logistics sector, in particular, the creation of conditions for the development of infrastructure at checkpoints located on the Kyrgyz-Chinese state border, the removal of restrictions that hinder dynamic and investment exchanges and the creation of mutually beneficial conditions in trade.

In turn, Ma Xingrui expressed his readiness to support all projects of mutual interest and noted that despite the coronavirus pandemic, good indicators were achieved in mutual trade between the two countries.

“XUAR is ready to continue making all necessary efforts to maintain the trend of growth in mutual trade, as well as to attract Chinese investment, given that all conditions have been created in the Kyrgyz Republic for comfortable doing business,” he stressed.
