BISHKEK - The 12th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission took place in Cholpon-Ata. Following the meeting, Bishkek and Tashkent reaffirmed their commitment to increasing mutual trade turnover to $2 billion by 2030 and signed a new package of bilateral cooperation agreements, 24.kg reports.

The talks were chaired by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

According to Kasymaliev, mutual trade volume will exceed $1 billion for the first time in 2025, an increase of 19% year-on-year. Over the past five years, trade between the two countries has doubled, reflecting the steady expansion of economic ties.

The parties noted that positive trends are observed not only in trade but also in investment cooperation, industrial cooperation, and the development of transport connectivity. In recent years, supplies of agricultural and processed products, as well as joint production initiatives, have increased.

The meeting discussed measures to develop industry, energy, agriculture, logistics, and attract investment. Kyrgyzstan proposed expanding the capacity of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund, increasing its capitalization, and accelerating the launch of joint industrial parks and logistics centers.

Particular attention was paid to strategic infrastructure projects, including the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which is considered one of the key transport routes in the region, as well as the implementation of the Kambarata-1 Hydroelectric Power Station (HPP).

Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov emphasized Tashkent's interest in transitioning from trade growth to the launch of new joint ventures and long-term investment projects.

Following the meeting, the parties signed the protocol of the 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission, cementing agreements on further deepening economic cooperation.
