Kyrgyzstan Looks to Develop Air Links with EU

BISHKEK – First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiyev participated in a European Commission event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the EU Aviation Safety List, 24.kg reports.

Speaking at the meeting, he noted that Kyrgyzstan's removal from the EU aviation blacklist opens new opportunities for cooperation with European partners. He noted that in recent years, the country has undertaken a large-scale civil aviation reform, which has brought the regulatory system into line with international standards, strengthened government oversight, and improved flight safety.

During the visit, Amangeldiyev also held talks with Apostolos Tsitsikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism. The parties discussed prospects for the development of civil aviation, transport connectivity, and sustainable transport.

Kyrgyzstan confirmed its interest in expanding air traffic with European Union countries and further cooperation with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). In turn, the European side praised the republic's progress in reforming the aviation sector and its commitment to international standards.

Following the talks, the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen their partnership in the transport sector.
