Kyrgyzstan's GDP growth accelerates due to construction and trade

Kyrgyzstan's GDP exhibited a confident acceleration in January-September 2023, reaching 4.2% compared to 3.3% for January-August of the same year. The main drivers of economic growth were the construction sector, which saw a 13.7% increase, and trade with an impressive growth rate of 18.9%, the EABR press service reports.

The expansion of domestic demand was a key factor stimulating these economic sectors. Increasing wages and active lending also played a significant role in supporting this trend.

However, inflationary processes continue to attract attention. In September, Kyrgyzstan's inflation rate stood at 9.6%, slightly exceeding the August figure of 9.5%. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that the annual price growth remains below the levels of the first half of 2023, thanks to the reduced pressure of global food prices. Experts predict a resumption of declining inflation in the fourth quarter due to the high base effect from the previous year.
