President of Kazakhstan held a series of meetings and bilateral negotiations with the UN Secretary-General, heads of states, as well as top executives of international companies in New York, Tengrinews.kz reports.
The program of bilateral negotiations by Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly was opened by a meeting with the President of Hungary, Katalin Novak. During the negotiations, the parties discussed issues of trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
At the meeting, Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan supports close cooperation with Hungary, having reliable traditional ties and relations. He invited his colleague from Hungary to visit Kazakhstan.
Tokayev also held negotiations with the President of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc-Musar. The Presidents discussed the prospects for the development of Kazakh-Slovenian cooperation in trade, economic, transport-logistics, and humanitarian spheres.
The meeting between Tokayev and the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, turned out to be productive. The leaders of the two countries discussed the state and prospects of further development of bilateral cooperation. The parties emphasized the importance of taking comprehensive measures to increase cooperation in the fields of transport, logistics, and trade.
"We have reached very useful agreements on the visa procedure, as well as on other aspects related to business and citizens' interaction. I want to say that Kazakhstan is fully committed to strengthening relations with Iran. The governments of our countries must take the necessary steps to implement the agreements we previously reached in Tehran. I look forward to meeting you again in Kazakhstan," emphasized the President of Kazakhstan.
President Tokayev held negotiations with his counterparts from Finland and Estonia, as well as with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
During the meeting with the UN Secretary-General, they discussed the priority areas of Kazakhstan's comprehensive cooperation with the UN, as well as pressing contemporary challenges. Welcoming the leader of Kazakhstan, the UN Secretary-General noted the progressive development of their bilateral partnership.
The President of Kazakhstan highly appreciated Antonio Guterres' activities as UN Secretary-General, confirming readiness to continue supporting his efforts aimed at ensuring peace, stability, and security.
Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev also participated in the UN Summit on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together with the President of Hungary, Katalin Novak, they co-chaired the first session of the leaders' dialogue, "Scaling Up Actions on Key Transitional Processes to Accelerate Progress in Achieving SDGs."
President Tokayev will participate in a meeting with the heads of Central Asian states and US President Joe Biden in the C5+1 format in New York.
