The CSTO is monitoring threats to the southern borders of Tajikistan from a number of well-known extremist groups located on the territory of Afghanistan, the head of the CSTO Imangali Tasmagambetov said at an expanded meeting of the secretariat of the Joint Staff of the CSTO, the Ia-centr.ru portal reported.

"The political and military-technical readiness to respond to these threats is being maintained," participants said at the meeting.

At the same time, the CSTO countries maintain a constant dialogue with the government of Afghanistan in the interests of strengthening security and peaceful development in the region.

The CSTO hopes for a positive outcome of this dialogue.

He also added that the CSTO countries are in favor of building a comprehensive, long-term, sustainable and strong security system in Eurasia and the world as a whole.

In addition, it was noted at the meeting that by this time the foundations for special relations between the CSTO and China are being laid, which intends to jointly build a powerful security pole in most of the Eurasian continent.

Such a partnership will certainly strengthen the potential of the organization and become a format for jointly confronting challenges and threats to member states, the participants of the meeting noted.

Along with this, the CSTO Secretary General drew attention to the need to improve the activities of the organization, taking into account the changing international situation.
