The trade turnover for the three quarters of this year exceeded $9.1 million, the Statistics Agency of Tajikistan informed.

This is 13.5% more compared to the same period in 2023.

Nearly 93% (around $8.5 million) of the trade turnover between the countries accounts for imports of goods from Kyrgyzstan.

Tajikistan's exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to only about $650,000.

The share of trade with Kyrgyzstan in Tajikistan's total trade turnover for the nine months of this year was 0.1%.

The total volume of Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover during this period was approximately $6.5 billion.

Tajikistan's main trading partners remain Russia (22.3%), China (21.2%), and Kazakhstan (15.0%).

It should be noted that the decline in Tajik-Kyrgyz trade turnover continued for more than three years following the armed conflict in the border areas at the end of April 2021, during which dozens of people on both sides were killed and hundreds were injured.

Since then, the 970 km border between these countries has remained closed. Trade between the two countries has been maintained through the territories of third countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan).

The volume of trade between the two countries over three years fell more than three times—from $37 million in 2020 to $12 million in 2023.

Tajikistan primarily exports cotton yarn, Portland cement, aluminum rods and profiles, as well as stone fruits to Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan imports petroleum products, frosted glass, coal and briquettes, cement, and other goods.
