DUSHANBE - Tajikistan and India intend to expand industrial cooperation, including projects for the joint assembly of automobiles and electric vehicles, Pressa.tj reports.
These issues were discussed by Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, and India's Minister of Heavy Industry and Steel, Kumaraswamy Haradhananahalli Devegowda, on the sidelines of the 4th Meeting of SCO Industry Ministers in Bishkek.
The parties reaffirmed the strategic nature of the bilateral partnership and discussed promising areas of cooperation. The focus was on organizing the assembly of automobiles and electric vehicles, supplying electric buses for urban transport, and localizing the production of hydropower and electrical equipment using Indian technology.
Furthermore, the ministers discussed cooperation in metallurgy, the development of critical minerals, and the production of machine tools and industrial equipment. Special attention was paid to the training of engineering personnel for the industrial sector.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to intensify the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation and continue expert-level interaction to implement joint projects.
