Tajikistan and Russia Agreed to Strengthen Defense Cooperation

The defense ministers of Russia and Tajikistan discussed expanding military cooperation at a meeting in Bishkek as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Defense Ministers' Meeting, Avesta.tj reports.

The talks between the defense ministers of the two countries took place as part of the SCO Defense Ministers' Meeting.

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov stated the significant potential for bilateral cooperation and emphasized its importance for ensuring security and stability in Central Asia. He noted that this cooperation is particularly important given the tense situation surrounding Iran and the worsening situation in other regions of the world.

The Russian side expressed its readiness to continue assisting in equipping and developing the Tajik armed forces, as well as sharing military experience.

Tajik Defense Minister Emomali Sobirzoda thanked the Russian side for its support and also stated the high potential for further cooperation between the two countries.
