Tajikistan continues to strengthen its position among the leaders in industrial growth in Asia, reports Avesta.
According to forecasts from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, industrial growth rates in 2024 may reach 21.2%, driven by the increase in the number of new enterprises and rising investments in production.
The total amount of investments in new and existing factories in the country is about 19 billion somoni, or $178.5 million.
According to the Agency for Statistics of Tajikistan, around 3,500 enterprises operate in the country, a significant portion of which are concentrated in the manufacturing and mining sectors. In 2024, 251 new industrial enterprises were commissioned, creating about 2,000 jobs.
Most of the new enterprises are engaged in the food industry, construction, automotive, and textile industries.
Sherali Kabir, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, noted that the new factories have already produced goods worth 60 million somoni.
The Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) also plans to increase production volumes. The chairman of the company's board, Najibullo Rajabzoda, stated that in the first half of 2024, TALCO produced more than 40.4 thousand tons of aluminum, which is 24.7% higher than last year.
