All tasks set before the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) during Kazakhstan's chairmanship have been accomplished, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated at the CSTO Collective Security Council session in Astana, RIA Novosti reports.
"The CSTO is not merely a military partnership but a unique mechanism that consolidates our efforts and resources to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states," Tokayev said.
During its chairmanship, Kazakhstan focused on strengthening the close interaction between member states, enhancing the effectiveness of crisis response mechanisms, and developing the organization's capabilities to counter modern threats such as terrorism, cyberattacks, transnational crime, and drug trafficking.
In 2024, scheduled meetings of the organization's statutory bodies, military exercises, and preventive operations were carried out. Key collective security issues were thoroughly discussed by foreign and defense ministers, as well as at meetings of security council secretaries and parliamentary leaders.
Tokayev emphasized that the CSTO has become a key structure in ensuring peace and stability across the vast Eurasian region. Despite contemporary challenges, the CSTO consistently proves its relevance as a security guarantor for all member states.
He also thanked the member states for supporting Kazakhstan's priorities during its chairmanship and reaffirmed the CSTO's importance as a unifying mechanism for ensuring security and addressing modern threats.
