A solemn ceremony was held at the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, where passports were presented to 1,146 individuals who were granted citizenship. This event, timed to coincide with the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, reflects the country's commitment to international humanitarian law, reports the state agency TDH.
On the orders of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, citizens of Turkmenistan now include representatives of 29 nationalities who have been residing in the country. Additionally, 134 people from six countries received residence permits. The President noted that Turkmenistan continues to actively protect human rights and freedoms in line with international standards.
Participants of the ceremony expressed their gratitude to the President for addressing the issues of stateless persons and for creating conditions for their well-being. Turkmenistan, having joined key international legal documents of the UN, reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian initiatives and international legal norms.
