Starting from May 1, 2025, updated rules for the duty-free import of goods for personal use will come into force in Uzbekistan. The government resolution lowers the limits for non-commercial imports, reports Kun.uz.

Now, goods worth up to $1,000 (instead of the previous $2,000) can be transported by air; up to $500 (previously $1,000) by rail and waterways; and up to $300 when crossing the border by car or on foot.

Changes have also affected orders from foreign online platforms. Courier shipments are now limited to $200 per month (previously $1,000 per quarter), while postal parcels remain allowed up to $100.

Starting from July 20, an additional requirement is introduced for the minimum duration of stay abroad to be eligible for duty-free import: at least two days for travelers by car or on foot, and at least three days for air passengers. Failure to meet this condition will result in a flat customs duty of 30% on the full value of imported goods.

As for exports, goods worth up to $5,000 may be exported without mandatory declaration, except for products subject to export duties. However, if the goods are of a commercial nature, this must be recorded by customs authorities.

In addition, measured bullion bars and coins made of precious metals produced in Uzbekistan may be exported without restrictions, provided they are accompanied by appropriate certificates. If their value exceeds $5,000, a customs declaration must be filed.
