New zones will be established in the Besharik District and the city of Kuvasay in the Fergana Region of Uzbekistan, as announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting on the region's socio-economic development.

The Besharik District, located on the border with Tajikistan, has already begun constructing a trade and logistics center, which will be transformed into a free trade zone similar to the one in Termez on the Afghan border. This initiative is expected to increase the region's exports by $50 million and create 2,000 jobs. A similar project is planned for Kuvasay, a city bordering Kyrgyzstan.

It was highlighted during the meeting that over the past seven years, the number of industrial enterprises in the region has tripled, reaching 13,000, thanks to investment projects that have created 116,000 new jobs.

This year, foreign investments in the region reached $1.5 billion, while exports amounted to $910 million. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of increasing investments, creating new jobs, and expanding the Kokand Free Economic Zone.
