According to data from national statistical agencies, Tajikistan's taxis have become one of the most affordable forms of transportation globally, ranking 5th in terms of low cost, reports Avesta.
The average cost of a taxi ride worldwide is $1.7 per kilometer. However, in Tajikistan, this figure is significantly lower—only $0.28 per kilometer.
The top spot in this ranking is held by the small island nation of Palau, where the cost per kilometer is just $0.01.
Following it are African countries: Mauritania ($0.25) and Uganda ($0.27), as well as the Philippines ($0.27).
Russia is also included in the list, taking 15th place with a price almost four times lower than the global average.
In 70 countries that provided data, the cost of a taxi ride is less than $1 per kilometer. At the opposite end of the ranking is Grenada, where the price per kilometer is $22.2.
The second most expensive country is the Kingdom of Tonga ($8.53), followed by Kiribati ($8.23).
Among larger economies, the highest taxi prices are recorded in Liechtenstein ($5.88) and Bahrain ($5.81).
