Russian businessman-philanthropist of Uzbek origin Alisher Usmanov decided to leave the bureau of the board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE), RBC reports.

The entrepreneur asked to be released from membership in the RUIE in connection with his retirement and retirement from active work. Usmanov's application is planned to be considered at a bureau meeting to be held on January 25.

Usmanov is the founder and largest shareholder of the USM group, which includes large Russian companies Metalloinvest, Udokan Copper and MegaFon. Usmanov is ranked seventh on the list of the richest Russian billionaires according to Forbes. The magazine estimates his fortune at $11.5 billion.

He was considered one of the representatives of Russian business close to the Russian leadership, whose assets were frozen in Western countries after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. Usmanov transferred part of the funds to Uzbekistan.
