Baiterek Holding signed a $1 billion investment memorandum for the comprehensive development of the Kuryk seaport on Kazakhstan's Caspian coast, Forbes.kz reported.

The project envisions a large-scale modernization of port infrastructure, expansion of terminal capacity, and optimization of logistics processes along the Middle Corridor (MCTR).

Attracting major investments to the republic's Caspian gateway is aimed at accelerating the processing of dry and liquid cargo, as well as creating modern multimodal hubs. The development of the Kuryk port will significantly reduce transit times for goods between Asia and Europe, ensuring high supply chain reliability.

For Central Asian countries, the modernization of Kazakhstan's Caspian ports is of strategic importance in the context of export diversification. Expanding the capacity of Kazakhstan's maritime infrastructure opens direct access for Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan to alternative international trade routes, bypassing traditional corridors.

Strengthening the TITR's logistics potential stimulates growth in intraregional trade turnover and facilitates Central Asia's integration into the global trade system as a key transit bridge for Eurasia.
