Kazakhstan imported twice as much Russian gas in the first eight months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reports RIA Novosti.
According to Kazakhstan's state statistics agency, from January to August of this year, Kazakhstan imported natural gas from Russia worth $353.4 million. This is 2.1 times more than the previous year.
'This year, the total volume of Russian gas imports over the eight months reached the highest levels in history,' the report states.
Kazakhstan also increased its imports of coke from Russia by 15.4% to $103.5 million and coal by 1.6 times to $107.5 million.
At the same time, deliveries of petroleum products from Russia to Kazakhstan decreased 2.5 times to $191.5 million. Imports of gasoline amounted to $587,000, and diesel fuel to nearly $9 million.
