Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Zaparov, during a working visit to the United States, held talks with the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Bo Li, in Washington, the press service of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.
The parties discussed current issues of cooperation in the fields of climate change, energy, and "green" economy.
Zaparov provided detailed information on the current macroeconomic situation in his country, paying special attention to the implementation of energy projects, including the construction of the Kambarata-1 Hydroelectric Power Plant.
He emphasized that considering the scale of this strategic project, as well as the potential dividends for energy security and economic growth of the country, Kyrgyzstan is ready to consider various options for cooperation within the framework of the implementation of this grand project.
In turn, Bo Li shared his views on the current challenges of the global economy, noting the acceleration of inflation, the threat to food security, and natural disasters. He also shared his plans to visit the Kyrgyz Republic in 2024.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain active interaction on all priority issues, including those discussed during this meeting.
