The interaction between Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will continue to be more effective, stated the official spokesperson of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Iya Malkina, during a video conference at the Sputnik press center, Sputnik reports.
The video conference, titled "Moscow - Minsk - Astana - Bishkek - Yerevan - Tashkent," held at the Sputnik multimedia press center, was dedicated to the outcomes of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Bishkek.
Iya Malkina noted that a Memorandum of Cooperation and several practical documents have been signed between Uzbekistan and the EAEU.
"To date, there is a fairly high level of implementation of these documents, around 80%. I believe that the work on cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EAEU will continue more intensively. Especially since we have a joint working group dedicated to this and delegations exchange frequently," she stated.
Among the areas of cooperation, Iya Malkina emphasized trade policy and technical regulation.
The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting took place on October 26, 2023, where the heads of government of the EAEU member states discussed the development strategy of the union.
Uzbekistan has been an observer country in the Eurasian Economic Union since 2020.
