President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov has visited Japan. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida after meeting with Zhaparov said that strengthening relations with Central Asian countries is an urgent task for Japan, Orient.tm reports.

“The countries of Central Asia are becoming increasingly geopolitically important, and strengthening relations with them is an urgent task,” the head of the Japanese government noted.

Japan has recently been paying great attention to developing relations with the countries of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. In June of this year, Fumio Kishida instructed the Japanese Foreign Ministry to work on launching the format of summit meetings with the heads of state of the Central Asian “five”. It is expected that regular summit meetings between Japan and Central Asian countries will begin in 2024.
