The government of Thailand officially introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan starting from July 15, 2024. Now, they can enter this Southeast Asian country without additional documents for up to 60 days, reports the news agency "Dunyo."
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Thailand explained that previously, citizens of 57 countries could enter this state without visas. Now, official Bangkok has approved a similar procedure for citizens of another 36 countries, including Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
The new regime applies to people entering Thailand through any border posts. The innovation was implemented to stimulate the economy and may be canceled in the future.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand clarified that negotiations are currently underway between the authorities of this country and Uzbekistan on an agreement on mutual visa-free travel.
In the global passport strength ranking compiled by the Canadian company Arton Capital, based on the ability of citizens of a particular state to travel abroad, Kazakhstan ranks 55th as of 2024.
Citizens of this republic can visit 44 countries without visas, 46 with a visa on arrival, and 108 with pre-arranged entry documents.
Uzbekistan ranks 68th in this ranking: 30 countries without visas, 43 with a visa on arrival, and 125 requiring a pre-arranged visa. The republic shares the spot with Kyrgyzstan, which has the same ratio.
Tajikistan ranks 70th: its citizens can visit 26 countries without visas, 44 with a visa on arrival, and 128 with a pre-arranged visa.
Turkmenistan occupies the 77th position with the following breakdown: 18 countries without visas, 45 with a visa on arrival, and 135 with a pre-arranged visa.
