Kazakhstan ratified Treaty on Allied Relations with Uzbekistan

The Mazhilis (lower house) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan has ratified the Treaty on Allied Relations with Uzbekistan, signed in Tashkent on December 22, 2022, Trend reports.

The document is ratified with the aim of elevating Kazakh-Uzbek relations to a new level of interaction and bilateral cooperation. It also aims to contribute to the further strengthening of the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sustainable economic development of the two states.

Based on the treaty, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan confirm their commitment not to participate in any blocs or alliances and to refrain from actions directed against each other.

Additionally, the countries create favorable conditions for deepening mutual economic cooperation, strengthening and increasing trade turnover, investment activities, entrepreneurial and other economic activities, developing an interconnected transport system, preserving the spiritual and cultural closeness of the peoples of the two countries, deepening mutual ties in the fields of science, education, medicine, sports, culture, tourism, and information exchange.

The treaty also includes provisions whereby the parties take measures for the rational use of transboundary water resources and the operation of water management structures, as well as the implementation of water-saving technologies.
