Kyrgyz president meets Pope in Vatican

In the Vatican, a meeting took place between the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, and First Lady Aigul Japarova with Pope Francis, reports 24.kg.

Sadyr Japarov expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the Pope's unwavering dedication to promoting the highest principles and ideals of peace, justice, and mutual understanding between nations and religions, the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan wrote.

He highlighted Pope Francis's significant personal contribution to resolving conflicts and restoring justice in various parts of the world.

President Japarov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is a secular, multi-ethnic state where representatives of numerous ethnic groups live in peace and harmony. The Republic guarantees freedom of religion and does not interfere in the practice of faith.

Speaking about interfaith harmony, he added that all religious communities in Kyrgyzstan are an integral part of society and play an important role in its development. He also noted that tolerance and respect for cultural diversity have always been key traditional values in the country. Spiritual and moral principles have played an important role in the development of Kyrgyz statehood throughout history.

Pope Francis also praised Kyrgyzstan's efforts to support a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society, noting the importance of continuing to uphold these values.

At the end of the conversation, Sadyr Japarov invited Pope Francis to visit Kyrgyzstan at any convenient time.

President Japarov arrived in Italy for a two-day visit, where he held official talks with President Sergio Matarrelo and Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni, and took part in a business forum with representatives of the business circles of the two countries.

He also took part in the opening ceremony of the Kyrgyzstan Park in the center of Rome.
