Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan discuss launch of railway corridor from China to Caspian Sea

Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan discussed the launch of a transport corridor along the route of the new railway from China through Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and further into Turkmenistan with access to the Caspian Sea, the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The project was discussed on August 27 during a meeting between Minister of Economy Daniyar Amangeldiev and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan, Nury Golliyev.

During the negotiations, Amangeldiev highlighted a number of successful initiatives between the two countries and spoke about the work being done to launch the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway project.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation in international freight transportation and the launch of the transport corridor through Kyrgyzstan, which will enhance the transit and transport-logistics potential of the region. Prospects for cooperation in the industrial sector were also discussed.

Golliyev noted successful cooperation in energy and agriculture, as well as the growth in mutual trade volumes. He informed about the upcoming Investment Forum in Ashgabat.
