Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will work on new investment projects for the production of cars, household appliances and building materials. This was announced by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov in an expanded format.

The main priority of mutually beneficial cooperation is to increase the volume and expand the range of mutual trade. For these purposes, the parties agreed to work out the issues of substituting imports from third countries with affordable products of Uzbek and Kyrgyz manufacturers, as well as creating shopping centers in Bishkek and Tashkent, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.

“Within the framework of industrial cooperation, it was proposed to work out new investment projects worth about $500 million. These are the production of cars, modern household appliances, building materials, joint mining and processing of minerals,” Mirziyoyev said.

In the context of food security, Mirziyoyev singled out the strengthening of cooperation in the field of agriculture as an important area of interaction.

“This will be the implementation of the agricultural cooperation program, which provides for the launch of joint projects for the development of intensive gardens and greenhouses, the supply of potatoes, fruits and vegetables and livestock products, the cultivation of agricultural goods and others,” the Leader of Uzbekistan noted.

Mirziyoyev's two-day visit to Kyrgyzstan had the status of a state visit. Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the visit, which took place on January 26-27, 2023.
