The project has been approved, according to which Russian "Gazprom" will extract oil and gas in our country, provide our population with gas, and process oil at our oil refineries," said the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Taalaibek Ibraev, at the XII St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, 24.kg reports.
Ibraev claims that the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has approved the project. This involves cooperation between "Gazprom" and the state company "Kyrgyzneftegaz."
He reminded that "Gazprom" has been operating in Kyrgyzstan since 2014. At that time, the level of gasification in the republic was 22%. By the end of the previous year, it reached a level of 38%.
"Gazprom" is investing substantial sums in Kyrgyzstan's gas sector. At present, Kyrgyzstan does not face any issues with gas supply.
"We plan to increase Kyrgyzstan's gasification level to 60% by 2030," Taalaibek Ibraev said.
In 2019, during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan, the Chairman of the Management Committee of Russian "Gazprom," Alexey Miller, and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Kubatbek Boronov, signed a roadmap for PJSC's participation in the acquisition of property and assets of OJSC "Kyrgyzneftegaz."
"Gazprom" proposed drilling new production wells that would increase the volume of natural gas production in Kyrgyzstan to 100 million cubic meters per year and the volume of crude oil processing with the production of 300-400 thousand tons of petroleum products annually.
