In response to the statement of the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Berik Asylov, on the progress of the investigation into the case of mass riots in Kazakhstan in January 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan immediately issued a response statement in which it denied the involvement of citizens of Kyrgyzstan in these events in the neighboring country.
"... The Ministry categorically denies any involvement of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in last year's tragic events in Kazakhstan," the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said in a commentary.
At the same time, the diplomatic department noted that as part of the investigation of criminal cases on the fact of mass riots, two citizens of Kyrgyzstan were brought to justice with a suspended sentence. These citizens, due to circumstances beyond their control, were accidentally involved in a separate episode.
“Special attention is drawn to the fact that the responsibility and guilt of other citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic has not been proven. Not a single citizen of Kyrgyzstan participated in Kazakhstan either at rallies, or in mass pogroms and looting.
During the January events of 2022 in Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and foreign agencies of Kyrgyzstan carried out comprehensive work to ensure the protection of the rights and interests of citizens of Kyrgyzstan, including more than 600 Kyrgyz citizens were promptly evacuated,” the MID of Kyrgyzstan said in a commentary.
