New requirements for obtaining visas to Turkey introduced for citizens of Turkmenistan

The firm Gateway International, which facilitates visa applications for Turkmen citizens traveling to Turkey, has announced new requirements for obtaining Turkish visas, effective December 16, 2024.

If an individual plans to stay in Turkey for more than 90 days and intends to apply for a residence permit (ikamet), they must inform the firm’s representative in Ashgabat at the time of submitting their visa application.

For stays under 90 days for tourism purposes, applicants must still follow the standard visa application process. However, this tourist visa does not guarantee eligibility for a short-term residence permit.

According to Hronikatm.com, neither Turkey’s Directorate General of Migration Management nor the Turkish consulate in Ashgabat has confirmed these new requirements. It is speculated that the initiative for these changes might originate from the Turkmen authorities.
