DUSHANBE - A large-scale project to create a Regional Artificial Intelligence Center is launching in the capital of Tajikistan. The initiative is being implemented as part of the development of the IT Hub Dushanbe digital ecosystem and aims to transform the country into a key technology hub in Central Asia, Avesta.tj reports.

According to the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of Tajikistan, the creation of the center is aimed at strengthening the country's scientific potential and expanding regional cooperation in high technology.

The agency noted that the new project is a logical continuation of the international agenda initiated by President Emomali Rahmon. Previously, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution "Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development in Central Asia," and the creation of a physical site in Dushanbe will be the practical implementation of these agreements.

According to the project, the center's infrastructure will include modern laboratories, research units, and conference halls for international events. The key technical feature of the facility will be the construction of a data processing center with a capacity of 50 to 75 megawatts, which is necessary for training complex artificial intelligence models and processing large data sets.

Following the facility's launch, Dushanbe authorities plan to actively attract scientists, engineers, and researchers not only from Central Asian countries but also from other regions of the world. The site is expected to become a hub for joint research projects and the development of new technological solutions. The Innovation Agency emphasized that the project's implementation will facilitate the training of qualified IT personnel, attract direct investment, and develop a fully-fledged innovation ecosystem. Authorities hope that the new center will finally cement Tajikistan's status as a regional leader in digital technology.
