On October 27, 2026, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held talks in Dushanbe with Matteo Patrone, Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The key topic of the meeting was the implementation of the $900 million strategic investment roadmap for 2026–2030, Avesta.tj reported.

Since 1993, the EBRD has invested over €1.1 billion in the country's economy through 201 projects. During the ongoing talks, the parties focused on the development of green energy, the modernization of the power grid, and attracting private capital for the construction of solar power plants.

The Tajik side also proposed that the bank expand direct financing for small and medium-sized businesses, increase lending in national currency, and facilitate the issuance of corporate bonds. Projects in water supply, irrigation, digitalization, and education were also discussed.

The investment agreement with the EBRD is of significant importance both for Dushanbe and for the entire Central Asia. Amid growing energy shortages and climate challenges, attracting $900 million in hydropower and renewable energy investment strengthens Tajikistan's status as a key supplier of clean energy in the region.

Strengthening the financial sector and infrastructure will reduce risks for foreign investors and spur sustainable economic growth in the country.
