An international scientific and practical conference, "Milestones in the Development of Statehood, the Legal System, and Democracy in Neutral Turkmenistan," was held in Ashgabat to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of State, Law, and Democracy, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reported.

The forum was attended by members of the Mejlis, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies, representatives of public organizations, faculty and students of the Academy of Civil Service, and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan. The conference focused on Ashgabat's international legal initiatives.

Participants emphasized the importance of the unanimous adoption by the UN General Assembly of resolutions on neutrality and the declaration of 2028 as the "Year of International Law." A separate topic was the report of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the harmonization of national legislation with international human rights standards.

The holding of such forums reflects the specific nature of Turkmenistan's legal and foreign policy, based on the concept of positive neutrality. The country's state model combines strictly centralized institutional governance with the active use of the UN platform to promote foreign policy initiatives. High legislative activity and attention to the status of neutrality serve as a key tool for strengthening Ashgabat's sovereignty and international position in the region.
