TASHKENT - Uzbek surgeon and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Oybek Omonov, has been awarded the International European Order of Nikolai Pirogov, one of the most prestigious awards of the global medical community, UzA reports.
The award was presented to the head of the endocrine surgery department at the Academician Y. Turakulov Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Endocrinology for his contribution to the development of medical science, the introduction of innovative surgical methods, and the creation of a scientific school in the field of high-tech medicine.
According to the source, the international medical community has highly praised the achievements of Uzbek specialists in endocrine surgery. In particular, the introduction of modern minimally invasive surgeries, including endoscopic removal of thyroid tumors through the oral cavity, was noted. Uzbekistan became the first CIS country to systematically use this technology.
The center's specialists also perform complex laparoscopic surgeries to remove adrenal tumors, which require highly qualified medical teams and modern equipment. The medical center emphasized that the development of high-tech surgery has made modern, world-class procedures more accessible to patients within the country.
