Uzbekistan is among the top five countries in the world that have achieved the most significant results in poverty reduction, Daryo.uz reported, citing World Bank data.

According to First Deputy Minister of Employment Marat Juraev, the country accounts for approximately 60% of the total poverty reduction in Central Asia.

In the first nine months of 2026, the poverty rate in the country decreased from 5.8% (2.2 million people) to 3.6% (1.4 million people), and the number of poor families decreased from 533,000 to 349,000.

During this period, 824,000 citizens found permanent employment, 4.14 million people increased their incomes, and another 980,000 workers were transferred from the informal sector to official status.

A key factor in this success was the implementation of Chinese experience in targeted poverty reduction. Uzbekistan adapted the model of assistance to mahalla households by launching specialized digital accounting platforms.

Chinese experts facilitated the creation of pilot agro-industrial and handicraft clusters, as well as the transfer of intensive farming technologies and entrepreneurship training in the regions.

The transition from passive social payments to active employment incentives and the official legalization of labor expands the tax base and strengthens macroeconomic stability in the context of rapid population growth.
