President Japarov and Director of IMF discussed digitalization of economy

During his working visit to New York, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, according to the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan.

Both parties emphasized the further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation and the introduction of digital technologies into Kyrgyzstan's economic system. President Japarov highlighted the importance of collaboration with the IMF for the country's economic development. He also focused on climate change issues and expressed Kyrgyzstan's interest in green initiatives.

Japarov underscored Kyrgyzstan's plans to increase energy generation capacities, including through the construction of new hydroelectric power plants, and highlighted the trend of active adoption of digital technologies in the country's financial sector. He expressed hope for support from the IMF in this direction.

In turn, Kristalina Georgieva emphasized the importance of digitalization for modern businesses and expressed the IMF's readiness to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan on several key issues, including climate change.
