President of Tajikistan held talks with chief general of Pakistan

The prospects of friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan, including in the areas of security and defense, were discussed in Dushanbe by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Sahir Shamshad, Avesta reports.

It was emphasized that significant cooperation has been established between Tajikistan and Pakistan in political, trade, economic spheres, including energy, transportation, and communications, as well as in the cultural-humanitarian field and security sphere.

Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the current productive process of political relations between the two countries and highly appreciated the level of mutual trust at the highest level between the two states.

Emomali Rahmon, highlighting the partnership between the two countries in the field of security and defense, regarded the continuous contacts between representatives of sectoral structures as beneficial and serving the interests of both countries.

During the meeting, concerning contemporary worrisome processes and the necessity for further strengthening cooperation in areas such as combating terrorism, drug production and illicit trafficking, transnational crime, and other mutually interesting directions were noted.

The parties also exchanged opinions on current international and regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
