Despite the crisis trends in the international relations system, the current year has proven to be very productive for Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, noted President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan during their meeting in Baku, the press service of the President of Tajikistan reports.
The meeting of the two presidents took place in Baku within the framework of the summit of the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).
Emomali Rahmon recalled that one of the important events of this year was Ilham Aliyev's state visit to Tajikistan.
As a result of the visit, the two sides signed a significant package of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents, which infused bilateral relations with qualitatively new content.
The President of Tajikistan emphasized that the Tajik government has adopted an Action Plan for the implementation of the agreements reached.
During the current meeting, the parties discussed regional and international issues. It was emphasized that Tajikistan "wants to see the South Caucasus as a stable and prosperous region."
In his speech at the SPECA summit in Baku, Emomali Rahmon noted that Tajikistan supports the idea of creating a target fund to attract financial resources from partner countries, as reported by Report.az.
Rahmon also considered the development of transport infrastructure in SPECA countries and their further integration into international transport corridors as important. Regarding climate change issues, the President of Tajikistan emphasized that this is a serious challenge for SPECA countries, with the most relevant problems being the preservation of water and other resources.
The Tajik leader also underscored the role of digitization in the modern world and proposed opening an Artificial Intelligence Center in Tajikistan for cooperation among SPECA countries.
In conclusion, Emomali Rahmon praised Ilham Aliyev for the successful conduct of the SPECA summit and highly appreciated Azerbaijan's contribution to the advancement of this Program.
