The trilateral summit of the heads of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Ashgabat - Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Emomali Rahmon and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, completed its work by adopting a joint Statement.
The heads of the three states expressed their desire to further develop cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The readiness to strengthen cooperation within the framework of international organizations, primarily in the United Nations, as well as in other international and regional platforms, was especially emphasized.
Having considered the issues of trade and economic relations, the summit participants expressed a common opinion on the need to create favorable conditions for the further development of economic cooperation between themselves.
The Statement emphasized the special importance of cooperation in the field of supplies of natural gas, oil and oil products, as well as electricity. Based on the positive experience of trilateral cooperation in the field of energy, they agreed to hold talks at the level of heads of energy departments in the second half of 2023 in order to consider opportunities for joint activities in the oil and gas and electricity sectors.
Given the great potential of the three countries in the field of transport, logistics and transit, the parties attach particular importance to the development of cooperation in the field of transport. In order to expand cooperation in this area, the presidents stressed the importance of intensifying multimodal transportation along the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan transport route, which provides the three countries with access to seaports, including the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf.
