Tajikistan and China to jointly address water supply issues

The issues of the rational use of water resources, conducting joint scientific research, and developing effective management and economical use of water resources were discussed by Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, and China's Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Ju Leiming, reports the Khovar agency.

The bilateral negotiations took place within the framework of the Third High-Level International Conference on the Implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028" in Dushanbe.

Representatives of the water authorities of the two countries also discussed the issues of ensuring the safety of hydraulic structures, improving the reclamation condition of irrigated lands, reducing the impact of climate change, jointly developing and implementing water management projects, and attracting various financial resources for their implementation, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.

Additionally, the parties expressed interest in exchanging information and experience in the application of water-saving technologies, advanced irrigation methods, irrigation equipment, water measurement and accounting, training specialists for the water sector, organizing and conducting joint international and regional events related to the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028," and promoting the goals of Tajikistan's initiative.
