Aziz Nasirzadeh emphasized that Tajikistan holds a special place in Iran's foreign policy due to historical, linguistic, cultural, and religious ties. He expressed satisfaction that Iran was the first destination of Emomali Sobirzoda’s foreign visits after his appointment as Minister of Defense.
According to him, the stable relations between the two countries over the past three decades, regular presidential meetings, and the recent signing of 22 bilateral agreements form a strong foundation for enhanced cooperation in various fields, including defense and security.
The interlocutors also highlighted the importance of coordinating actions on the international stage, including within organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Interest was expressed in joint efforts to prevent threats to regional stability.
Emomali Sobirzoda, in turn, noted significant achievements in the course of cooperation with Iran and confirmed Tajikistan’s readiness to further expand interaction in the fields of security and defense. He stressed that the relations between the countries are based on support and trust from the leadership of both sides.
As part of the visit, the Tajik minister also met with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Akbar Ahmadian. The sides discussed strengthening cooperation in politics, economy, security, and defense. As a result of the talks, mutual understanding was reached regarding the need to intensify bilateral engagement to ensure sustainable peace and security in the region.
