Following the negotiations between the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border in Batken, the heads of the delegations - the Chairmen of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) of Tajikistan, Saimumin Yatimov, and Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, made a joint statement, Avesta reports.

"If we consider the total length of the state border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, I and Kamchybek Kydyrshaevich can confirm that over 90% of the state border has already been described. We are indeed close to resolving these issues. The commission is treating the resolution of key issues exceptionally responsibly; it follows the precise instructions of the heads of our states, reflecting the will of our peoples. I thank the commission for the successful work done," stated Saimumin Yatimov.

Chairman of the GKNB of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, confirmed his colleague's words, stating that agreements on the coordination of over 90% of the state border have been reached as a result of the work of the intergovernmental commission.

"We have several sections remaining, which we will complete in the near future. Which sections are these? Starting from Kayragach, Kulundu, Maksat, Arky, Arky-1, Arky-2, Zhany-Zhera, and up to Zhiydelik. The working group has completely finished the coordination. In addition, we have agreed on Kara-Baku, Lyakkon to the junction of the point of the three states. Thus, at the moment, we have almost completed work on the disputed sections that raised questions. There are only a few meetings left to complete the work on the entire state border," announced Kamchybek Tashiev.

Meanwhile, the issue of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan should be resolved by next spring, announced Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov during a meeting with residents of border areas during a working trip to the Batken region. He visited villages that were most affected during last year's border conflict.

"Live in peace and harmony. Border negotiations are already coming to an end. We thought we would finish by the New Year, but there is a slight delay. Perhaps it will be completed by spring," he said. In early October, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan signed Protocol No. 44, which, as noted, "provides the basis for resolving all border issues."
